One year my dad and I decided to do something special for my mom's birthday we had made plans earlier that day so we had all day to prepare for it. We we went to the store and got a cake that said "To the best mom and wife ever", Happy Birthday" and we went and got all of her favorite things she likes such as roses and red stuff and made the theme roses and chocolate with penuts. We had chocolate penuts and almonds of all kinds surrounding her favorite birthday cake (chocolate) and had rose petals sitting in some of red colored punch and had a mini side cake that was made in the shape of a rose and had "happy 40th birthday!" on a card on the side. We had floating candles and a hot bath for her after she opened her presents and a wonderful dinner with lots of fun games afterwards , we made her hunt for her presents (a fun search game where  we made her little clues and made her look inside and outside the house for her presents and each one had another clue.
